Dick's Sanitation (also known as Lakeville Sanitation) provides residential garbage, bulk item pickup, yard waste and recycling services for the City of Shakopee. City Code requires all residential properties of three-units or less that have municipal water and sewer service to have refuse service from Dick's Sanitation. Residents are billed quarterly for these services.

The basics . . .

• A refuse container on wheels and a recycling container are provided as part of the service. Residents may choose a 30, 60 or 90 gallon container, with rates charged accordingly. Extra bags of refuse that do not fit in your container will be picked up at a fee of $3.00 per bag, which is added to the next bill. Residents also have the option of renting an additional refuse cart. To adjust your service level or rent an additional cart (6 month minimum), please contact Dick's Sanitation at (952) 469 - 5161.

• Yard waste must be placed in brown paper compost bags or in a 30 gallon container marked "Yard Waste." There is a charge of $1.25 per bag or container of yard waste.

• Both refuse and recycling are collected once a week. They are collected on the same day, but by different trucks, which may not reach your neighborhood at the same time. Residents are asked to have both their refuse and recycling at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on collection day.

• If your collection day falls on or after Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years Day, collection will be delayed by one day. The regular collection schedule will resume the following week.

• Appliances and/or other bulk items are picked up on Wednesdays. Please contact Dick's Sanitation at (952) 469 - 5161 to schedule a stop at your home. You will be billed for the appliance pick-up.

Recycling

Please sort your recycling materials into the following two categories and place in separate bags inside your recycling container. If you find that your recyclables don't fit into one recycling container, please contact Dick's Sanitation at (952) 469 - 5161 for another FREE recycling container. Recycling is picked-up every week on the same day as refuse and should be at the curb no later than 7:00 a.m.
