New energy codes and provisions took effect June 1, 2009. Some of the areas affected include radon, foundation insulation installation and efficiency, and mechanical equipment control. Effective Jan. 1, 2009, the Erosion Control Escrow will be $1,000 for all residential and commercial building permits that require erosion control protection. The escrow will be collected at the time of building permit issuance.

The e-permits site allows contractors and homeowners to complete the permit process entirely online, including payment of permit fees by credit card, for residential projects that don't require plan review.
