Parks & Recreation Special Events

Shakopee Parks and Recreation offers many special events throughout the year for all ages. Some examples are the Happy Birthday American Parade, Annual Summer Carnival, Park Cleanup Day, and Senior Olympics. Huber Park Performance Series
Now through Sept. 16
Huber Park, 150 Fillmore St. N (on the riverfront at the Hwy. 101 bridge)

SandVenture Aquatic Park Opens

 Shakopee Ice Arena Open House

Shakopee Ice Arena

Summer Carnival

Fee: $5 per person, no pre-registration required.

Everyone's favorite special event is back. Bring your luck for winning some great prizes. Carnival games are geared for children ages 3-10.



Mini-U.S. Open
Saturday, Aug. 28 (rain date - Sunday, Aug. 29), 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Lions Park
Fee: $10 (includes use of equipment and snacks),
pre-registration required by Aug. 25.

Children ages 3-6 (children must be accompanied by an adult) can take part in this fun, new tournament. Tee-off on the temporary mini nine-hole golf course. Participants will use a special three-club plastic golf set and sponge golf balls, while their parent or guardian caddies. Bring your camera to take picture of your child next to the leader board with the trophy. Schedule your tee time between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at 952-233-9500. Please check in at the Youth Building 10 minutes prior to tee time.

Scott County Senior Expo

Fee: $10 (includes lunch)
Registration: At the Community Center, by emailing beller@ci.shakopee.mn.us, by calling 952-233-9507, or online at www.ci.shakopee.mn.us/OnlineRegistration.cfm. The first 100 people registered will win a $5 gift card to their local grocery store.

The morning kicks off at 8 a.m. with check-in and continental breakfast. Throughout the day, there will be live entertainment (Opus Ensemble), presentations (Stan Tiekela, author/naturalist; Ed Barron, St. Gertrudes, to talk about balance and falls), lunch, vendors and prizes.


Jack o' Lantern 5K and Kids Pumpkin Run
Saturday, Oct. 30 (please note, date has changed), 5K begins at 9 a.m., Kids Run starts at 10:15 a.m.
Shakopee Community Center
Fee: $15 until Oct. 1, $20 Oct. 2- 22, $25 day of race; Kids Run $5

Dress in costume and join us for the second annual Jack o' Lantern 5K and Kids Pumpkin Run. There will be prizes for the best costumes and awards for the top three male and female finishers in each age group. Race begins and ends at the Shakopee Community Center. Kids Pumpkin Run to follow 5K event.
