The city’s second major sports complex is located on 17th Avenue east of Sun Path Elementary School. This project involves the construction of approximately 40 acres of fields, primarily designed for soccer. The first phase of the project, which has been completed, included field construction, parking, irrigation, turf establishment, and landscaping. The second phase involves construction of a restroom, storage, and support building for the complex. Once complete, the complex will serve as a premier sports complex for the southwest metropolitan area.

The 17th Avenue Sports Complex has been completed.
Work on Phase 1 (field grading, irrigation installation, parking, and turf establishment) was completed in late 2005. Phase 2 includes construction of a support building that will provide restrooms, concessions, meeting/tournament headquarters, and storage. The contract for this work was awarded in 2006, and the substantial completion date for construction was April 15, 2007. However, due to contractor delays, completion is not anticipated until late June.
