Recruitment

The post recruits in the fall of every year beginning with an informational "first nighter". New explorers go through a three month probationary period. After successful completion of this, uniforms are issued and explorers are able to ride along with officers.

The following requirements must be met to consider,
and remain being a member of the Shakopee Police Explorer Post:

• Have completed 8th grade
• Be 14-20 years old
• Have submitted an application to join
• Pass a background check
• Maintain a C average or better
