The City of Shakopee has two fire stations.

Station 1 2700 Vierling Drive E.The station originally opened in 1998 and was built to accommodate the growing department. The meeting room can hold 125 people and the apparatus area consists of five drive-through bays.

Station 2 334 2nd Ave. W. The station originally opened in 1956 as a shared facility for the Fire Department and Public Works Department. The Fire Department took over the entire building in 1976. The station has a meeting area and six back-in apparatus bays.

The Shakopee Fire Department employs paid-on-call fire fighters who are responsible for responding to emergency calls. Firefighters must live within a six-mile radius of a Shakopee fire station and within the Shakopee fire district, which includes the City of Shakopee, Jackson Township and Louisville Township. Firefighters must have the ability to respond within 15 minutes of the initial call. Firefighters are paid $10.00 per hour for fire calls, training and meeting attendance, and are eligible for membership in the Shakopee Fire Department Relief Association. Firefighters must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid class D driver's license. Candidates must complete an oral interview, physical agility test and physiological and criminal background check.
