2010 Census Information

It’s Easy

With only 10 questions, the 2010 Census questionnaire takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Households are asked to provide the name, age, race, date of birth and sex of each resident.

Everyone Counts

All U.S. residents must be counted—both citizens and non citizens. If English isn’t your first language, the Shakopee Library (235 S. Lewis St.) also will have the questionnaire available in other languages.

It’s Confidential

By law, the Census Bureau cannot share an individual’s responses with anyone, including federal agencies and law enforcement entities.

It’s Important

The results of the Census are used to determine the number of seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives. They also are used to decide federal funding for a variety of services ranging from education to transportation.

Be Counted

Mail back the questionnaire as soon as possible. Households that do not respond may receive a replacement questionnaire in early April or a personal visit from a Census worker.
