Phase II will include the development of the current City owned park. The final approved design can be viewed below. It is the City's plan to award the project in April of 2012 for construction to begin immediately after.

February 2011 Project Status
The City hired Bonestroo as the park designer for the Riverside Fields/Riverside Bluffs Park. In 2011 a concept plan will be developed for the park and a playground will be installed. Earlier this month the design process began. Bonestroo will be presenting three concept plans to City staff for review. The concept design will then be reviewed at a neighborhood meeting. The neighborhood meeting for this park is set for Tuesday, March 8 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Eagle Creek Elementary School. Please see the attached flier. Notices have been sent out to the surrounding neighbors. Bonestroo and City staff will seek comments from the neighborhood regarding the concept plan.  Following the neighborhood meeting any necessary revisions will be made and the concept plan will be presented to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board on March 28 for further comment.

October 26, 2010 Project Status
The City Council approved moving funds into the Park Reserve (the fund that pays for the development of parks) to construct the park in 2011. This decision was made on a 4-1 vote with Council Lehman voting no. This decision will be finalized in December 2010 with the adoption of the 2011 and 2012 budgets. The Council sees the need for the development of these parks and has taken the first step to fund the construction. It is anticipated that the entire park within the Greenfield East/Park Meadows area will be constructed at one time and that a playground will be constructed initially in the Riverside Fields/Riverside Bluffs area due to the City not yet owning the entire park parcel. Design will begin in early 2011.  Residents will be notified of meetings where they will be able to provide input on the park.

August 3, 2009 Project Status:
The City's intention is to install a playground in 2009 onto the park parcel currently in the City's possession. The entire park cannot be constructed until the City receives the parcel to the west that is intended for park use. The playground installation is currently on hold until the City receives the park dedication fees from a commercial development that is expected to record their final plat in 2009. Once the park dedication fees are received by the City, staff will begin putting together playground options and specifications.

Prior to obtaining quotes for the playground, staff will hold a meeting with the residents of the area to obtain input on desirable playground features. The announcements for future meetings will be sent out via email. If you would like to be added to this list, please contact Jamie Polley at jpolley@ci.shakopee.mn.us. We thank you for your patience.

November 11, 2008 Project Status:
The second neighborhood meeting will be held in the Spring of 2009. Meeting notices will be sent out in advance. At this meeting, we will decide on a playground concept. Staff will then prepare bid documents for a playground to be installed in 2009, pending park reserve funds.

September 11, 2008 Project Status:
Due to changes in staffing, feedback from the May 22 neighborhood meeting has not been completed for a July meeting. Current City staff will review the input from the May 22 neighborhood meeting, and a preliminary plan for the park will be discussed at a second neighborhood meeting. The date and time of the meeting will be determined at a later date. Announcements for future meetings will be sent out via email. If you would like to be added to this list, please contact Jamie Polley at jpolley@ci.shakopee.mn.us.

May 30, 2008 Project Status:
The first neighborhood meeting was held on May 22. Attached is a link to the power point presentation that staff presented. Staff answered a lot of questions, and we had a good discussion about the park and what the plan for phased construction includes. Staff will be compiling feedback from the meeting and using that for the preparation of schematic designs to be presented at another meeting in July. Announcements for future meetings will be sent out via e-mail. If you would like to be added to this list, please contact Jamie Polley at jpolley@ci.shakopee.mn.us.

May 5, 2008 Project Status:
The first Neighborhood Design Meeting for this park is scheduled from 7-8 p.m. on May 22, 2008, at Eagle Creek Elementary Cafeteria. Please see the meeting flyer for information. All residents of Riverside Fields and Riverside Bluffs, young and old, are encouraged to attend!

This meeting will be held to discuss the status of the park, timelines for construction and possible alternatives for the park and playground design. This park also needs an official name, so park name ideas will be discussed.
